The Supreme Organising Committee of the Open Masters Games Abu Dhabi 2026 has announced steady progress in preparations for the upcoming multi-sports event, set to take place from 6 to 15 February 2026.
What Is the Significance of the Event?
- It will be the largest and most diverse international sporting event ever hosted in the Middle East.
- Over 25,000 athletes from more than 100 nationalities are expected to compete.
- The event promotes active lifestyles, community engagement, and sporting excellence for individuals aged 30 and above, regardless of experience or skill level.
What Sports Will Be Featured?
- More than 30 sports, including Football, Basketball, Volleyball, Judo, Karate, Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai, Shooting, Badminton, Weightlifting, Table Tennis, Tennis, Padel, Athletics, Squash, Chess, Cycling, Obstacle Course Racing, Swimming, Golf, Canoeing/Kayaking, Sailing, Orienteering, Triathlon, Bowling, Netball, Rugby, Cricket, Wrestling, Horse Jumping, and Archery.
- Six Emirati heritage sports: Falconry, Endurance Horse Racing, Camel Racing, Dhow Sailing, Al Taba, and Diving.
- 18 sports categories are open to people of determination, emphasizing inclusivity.
Where Will the Competitions Take Place?
- Over 20 venues across Abu Dhabi, including Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Sports Academy, Zayed Sports City, Al Ain Adventure, Corniche, and others.
- Volunteer registration is ongoing in partnership with Emirates Foundation, inviting students, professionals, and community leaders to contribute.
- The official Open Masters Games wristband was launched to symbolize community participation and active living.
