⚖️ Former Arsenal Midfielder Thomas Partey Charged with Rape and Sexual Assault

LONDON – July 2025 — Former Arsenal and Ghana international Thomas Partey has been charged with five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault, the Metropolitan Police confirmed on Monday.

The alleged offences reportedly occurred between 2021 and 2022 and involve three separate women.

  • Two counts of rape relate to one woman

  • Three counts of rape relate to a second woman

  • One count of sexual assault involves a third woman

The 32-year-old midfielder, who recently ended his contract with Arsenal Football Club on June 30, denies all allegations and intends to “clear his name”, according to his lawyer Jenny Wiltshire.


🕵️ Investigation Dates Back to 2022

Detectives began their investigation in February 2022, after an initial report of rape was filed. According to Det Supt Andy Furphy, the police are actively supporting the victims and encourage anyone with further information to reach out via CIT@met.police.uk.

Partey, who resides in Hertfordshire, is expected to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, 5 August.


🗣️ Statement from Partey's Lawyer

“Thomas Partey denies all the charges against him,” said Wiltshire.
“He has fully cooperated with the police and CPS throughout their three-year investigation.
He now welcomes the opportunity to finally clear his name.”

Due to ongoing legal proceedings, neither Partey nor his legal team will be providing further public comments.


🔴 Arsenal, Premier League & FA Remain Silent

A spokesperson for Arsenal confirmed the end of Partey's contract but declined to address the allegations:

“The player's contract ended on June 30. Due to ongoing legal proceedings the club is unable to comment on the case.”

Both the Football Association (FA) and Premier League have also declined to comment at this time.
